Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Concer Band-The concert bands are the major performing groups at Pembroke Pines Charter High Schhol. These ensembles are based upon audition and are grouped by levels of ability and experience. These concert band classes meet daily. All ensembles participate in extra events throughout the year including the Florida Bandmasters Assocation Concert Band Music Performance Assessment (District and/or State Level) as well as a performance through a music festival when deemed appropriate and/or financially feasible. Please note that students from other ensembles (specifically members of the Percussion Ensemble) may be selected at the discretion of the director to assist either ensemble in various events due to instrumentation and needs of the ensemble.
All of the major performing groups present three major concerts throughout the year, a Winter and Spring Concert (in December and May respectively) and our Pops Concert as well as performing at Graduation.
Jazz Band-Jazz Band I is a selected group of students having auditioned and wishing to learn basic jazz fundamentals and improvisation. The jazz band will rehearse extra-curricularly, rehearsing on Tuesday evenings. Students not selected for Jazz I but still interested in performing and learning in this genre will be able to do so with our Jazz, Too ensemble that rehearses Tuesday afternoon.
Both Jazz Bands will have several additonal performance opportunities including the Florida Bandmasters Association Jazz Band Music Performance Assessment and other jazz invitationals.
